How BRAS Works in Miami

Total Base Salary + RRAS is a salary structure that combines a teacher’s base salary with a Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement (RRAS). The RRAS is a supplement that is paid to teachers in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) who have passed a referendum tax. The RRAS is calculated as a percentage of the teacher’s base salary, and the percentage increases with the teacher’s years of experience.

To calculate a teacher’s Total Base Salary + RRAS, the RRAS percentage is multiplied by the teacher’s base salary and added to the base salary. For example, a teacher with 5 years of experience and a base salary of $50,000 would have a Total Base Salary + RRAS of $53,250.

The Total Base Salary + RRAS structure is designed to provide teachers with a competitive salary and to encourage them to stay with M-DCPS. The RRAS supplement is also a way for the community to show its appreciation for teachers and their hard work.
